Shahrooz Mohammad is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tehran whose practice centers on photography while extending into video and installation. Born to an Iranian father and a Bolivian mother, he spent his early childhood in Japan before moving to Iran at the age of nine. He received his B.A. in Architecture in 2023.

Mohammad’s practice is rooted in the gradual accumulation of images. Rather than treating photography as the capture of decisive moments, he works through prolonged observation, repetition, and the production of extensive photographic archives. Revisiting and reconfiguring these archives, he constructs open-ended narratives that resist certainty and fixed conclusions.
His work explores questions of identity, borders, distance, and belonging through an ongoing process of observation and image-making. Rather than offering fixed narratives, his photographs create spaces where ambiguity, fragmentation, and multiple readings can coexist. For Mohammad, photography is less a means of documenting reality than a way of examining how meaning gradually emerges through the relationships between images.

Working across photography, video, and installation, Mohammad treats exhibition-making as an extension of the artistic process. Informed by his architectural education, he carefully choreographs the relationship between image, space, and viewer, considering spatial experience an integral part of each work.
